Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup long-grain rice (basmati or jasmine preferred)
- 6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground turmeric
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter or olive oil
- 2 cups vegetable broth or water
- Fresh herbs (cilantro or parsley), chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste

- Stir in ground turmeric, mixing well with the sautéed garlic, then add rinsed rice and stir for another minute.
- Pour in vegetable broth and season with salt and pepper. Bring to a simmer, cover with a lid, and reduce heat to low.
- Let it simmer gently for about 15 minutes or until all liquid is absorbed without lifting the lid.
- Turn off the heat, let it sit for another 5 minutes, then fluff with a fork and stir in freshly chopped herbs.
Notes
For additional flavor, add a pinch of chili flakes or a dash of cumin. You can substitute brown rice if desired, but be aware of adjusted cooking times.
