Description
Delicious and festive heart-shaped lollipops with a refreshing peppermint flavor, perfect for holiday celebrations.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup light corn syrup
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
- Red food coloring
- Lollipop sticks
- Cornstarch (optional, for dusting)
Instructions
- Prepare your workspace by covering a section of the counter with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water, stirring gently until mixed.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring continuously until sugar dissolves. Once dissolved, stop stirring and boil until the mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage), about 10 minutes.
- Remove from heat, let it cool for a minute, then stir in peppermint extract and a few drops of red food coloring.
- Carefully pour small amounts of candy onto prepared parchment paper, placing lollipop sticks into each pour and shaping hearts around the sticks.
- Allow lollipops to cool completely at room temperature until hardened.
- Gently peel the lollipops off the parchment and store in an airtight container with parchment paper in between to prevent sticking.
Notes
For added fun, consider drizzling melted chocolate or sprinkling crushed peppermint on top before they set. Monitor the cooking temperature closely to avoid burning.
