Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with festive liners.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a larger mixing bowl, beat the unsalted butter until light and fluffy. Gradually add the granulated sugar, mixing until well combined.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully mixed before adding the next. Blend in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and finishing with the flour mixture. Be careful not to over-mix.
- Spoon the batter into prepared liners, filling each about two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- For the frosting, melt chocolate and let it cool slightly. Beat in softened butter and powdered sugar until creamy. Add the melted chocolate last.
- Use a piping bag to frost the cooled cupcakes in a wreath shape and decorate with festive sprinkles.
- Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature for best results.
