Description

A delightful holiday treat combining crunchy saltine crackers with a rich toffee layer topped with melted chocolate and nuts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sleeve Saltine crackers
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
  4. Melt unsalted butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously until it reaches a gentle boil. Let it bubble for about 3 minutes without stirring.
  5. Pour the toffee mixture over the arranged saltines and spread gently to cover.
  6. Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbly and golden.
  7. Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let sit for 2-3 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly.
  8. If using nuts, sprinkle them on top of the melted chocolate.
  9. Let cool completely, then break into pieces.
  10. Store in an airtight container.

Notes

Keep an eye on the toffee while cooking to prevent burning. Let it cool completely before breaking for best texture.
