A delightful holiday treat combining crunchy saltine crackers with a rich toffee layer topped with melted chocolate and nuts.

- 1 sleeve Saltine crackers
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Arrange saltine crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet.
- Melt unsalted butter and brown sugar in a saucepan over medium heat, stirring continuously until it reaches a gentle boil. Let it bubble for about 3 minutes without stirring.
- Pour the toffee mixture over the arranged saltines and spread gently to cover.
- Bake for 5-7 minutes, or until the toffee is bubbly and golden.
- Remove from the oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips on top. Let sit for 2-3 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate evenly.
- If using nuts, sprinkle them on top of the melted chocolate.
- Let cool completely, then break into pieces.
- Store in an airtight container.
Notes
Keep an eye on the toffee while cooking to prevent burning. Let it cool completely before breaking for best texture.
