Description
A delightful twist on the traditional Yule log, this sheet cake features rich chocolate flavors, warm spices, and a creamy filling, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package chocolate cake mix
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup whole milk (or buttermilk)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate ganache for drizzling
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 10×15-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, butter, eggs, and milk until fully incorporated.
- Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking sheet and gently tap to remove air bubbles. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes before lifting it out using the parchment paper and letting it cool completely on a wire rack.
- Whip together the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Spread this filling over the cooled cake.
- Using the parchment paper for guidance, roll the cake from one long side, then chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Drizzle with chocolate ganache and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
Notes
For a vegan version, swap eggs for flax eggs and use dairy-free whipped topping.
