Description

A delightful twist on the traditional Yule log, this sheet cake features rich chocolate flavors, warm spices, and a creamy filling, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 package chocolate cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk (or buttermilk)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Chocolate ganache for drizzling
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 10×15-inch baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, butter, eggs, and milk until fully incorporated.
  3. Spread the batter evenly in the prepared baking sheet and gently tap to remove air bubbles. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  4. Allow the cake to cool for 10 minutes before lifting it out using the parchment paper and letting it cool completely on a wire rack.
  5. Whip together the heavy cream and powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Spread this filling over the cooled cake.
  6. Using the parchment paper for guidance, roll the cake from one long side, then chill for at least 30 minutes.
  7. Drizzle with chocolate ganache and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For a vegan version, swap eggs for flax eggs and use dairy-free whipped topping.
