Description

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1 cup whole milk, warmed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, sugar, and yeast, allowing it to sit until foamy.
  2. Mix in melted butter, eggs, flour, and salt until the dough comes together.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for about 60 minutes until doubled in size.
  5. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl to create the filling.
  6. Punch down the dough, roll it out into a rectangle, spread melted butter, and sprinkle with the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  7. Roll the dough tightly, slice it lengthwise, twist the halves, and shape into a loaf.
  8. Let the loaf rise for 30 minutes in a greased pan.
  9. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For dairy-free, substitute almond or oat milk and coconut oil. Experiment with flavored extracts for unique touches.
