Description

A delightful and crunchy twist on traditional onion rings, these crispy Parmesan-coated chips are perfect for appetizers or snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet onions (like Vidalia), sliced into 1/4-inch rings
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • Olive oil for drizzling

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Peel onions and slice them into approximately 1/4-inch thick rings.
  3. Set up a three-bowl assembly line: whisk eggs in one bowl, mix breadcrumbs with Parmesan and seasonings in another, and keep the third bowl for sliced onions.
  4. Dip each onion slice into the egg wash, letting excess drip off, then transfer to breadcrumb mixture and press to adhere.
  5. Place the breaded onion rings in a single layer on the lined baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil.
  6. Bake for 15-20 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Let cool slightly before serving with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, substitute Parmesan with nutritional yeast. Use gluten-free breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
