A delightful holiday jam made with cranberries, apples, and spices, perfect for spreading on biscuits or toast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh cranberries (or frozen)
  • 2 apples, chopped (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (or brown sugar for a hint of caramel)
  • 1/4 cup citrus juice (orange juice)
  • Zest of 1 orange
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons pectin

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Ingredients: Rinse cranberries and chop apples into small chunks, keeping peels on if desired.
  2. Combine in the Crockpot: Combine cranberries, apples, sugar, citrus juice, zest, and spices in the slow cooker.
  3. Cook it Low and Slow: Set the Crockpot to low for 4–6 hours, stirring every hour.
  4. Check the Consistency: At the end of cooking, check if the jam has thickened to your liking; if not, cook for an additional hour.
  5. Jar your Jam: Ladle the warm jam into sterilized jars, leaving half an inch of space at the top and sealing tightly.
  6. Cool and Store: Allow jars to cool completely; refrigerate for up to two weeks or process for longer storage.

Notes

Don’t worry about exact timing; trust your instincts while making the jam. Taste as you go to customize sweetness and tartness.
