Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp ground allspice
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup heavy cream
- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Stir well.
- In another bowl, mix together the molasses, brown sugar, and melted butter until smooth. Fold in the dry ingredients to form a soft dough.
- Chill the dough for 2 hours, then shape into 1-inch balls and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave, stirring frequently. Let it cool slightly.
- Dip each truffle into the melted chocolate, allowing excess to drip off, and place back on the tray. Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
- Allow the chocolate to set at room temperature or refrigerate to speed up the process.
