Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups apples (Gravenstein or Granny Smith)
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup milk
- Pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a bundt pan or a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and cinnamon.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each.
- Stir in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Gradually incorporate the flour mixture, alternating with the milk.
- Peel, core, and slice the apples, then gently fold them into the batter.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack. Dust with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Avoid using overly ripe apples to maintain texture. Let the eggs and butter come to room temperature before mixing for best results.
