Description

A nostalgic dessert that combines rich chocolate filling with pecans and coconut, offering a delightful blend of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 graham cracker crust or traditional pie crust
  • 8 oz German sweet chocolate
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup shredded coconut
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the crust by fitting it into your pie dish and baking for 10 minutes until lightly golden.
  3. Melt the chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
  4. In a bowl, whisk the eggs, then add sugar, evaporated milk, and vanilla, mixing well.
  5. Combine the cooled chocolate mixture with the egg mixture, stirring to combine, then fold in the pecans and coconut.
  6. Pour the mixture into the pie crust and bake for 30-35 minutes until set.
  7. Let the pie cool for an hour before serving. Chill for a firmer texture if desired.
  8. Garnish with whipped cream, coconut, or pecans.

Notes

You can substitute German sweet chocolate with semi-sweet chocolate. For a lighter filling, try coconut milk instead of evaporated milk.
