Ingredients

- Flank or skirt steak (or sirloin/ribeye)
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cups jasmine or short-grain rice
- 1 bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup bok choy, chopped
- 1 cup shiitake or button mushrooms, sliced
- 3 green onions, chopped
- 2 tbsp sesame seeds
- Gochujang (for garnish)
Instructions
- Marinate the Steak: Slice the steak thinly and combine with soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Marinate for 30 minutes to 1 hour.
- Cook the Rice: Cook rice according to package instructions, fluff once done.
- Sauté the Vegetables: Heat oil in a skillet, add vegetables, and sauté for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp.
- Cook the Steak: Add marinated steak to the skillet and cook for 3-5 minutes until seared to desired doneness.
- Assemble the Bowl: Serve rice in bowls, top with steak, vegetables, and garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and gochujang.
Notes
Customize toppings and vegetables as desired. Avoid overcrowding the pan for the best sear on the steak.
