- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate, melted
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper and grease it with butter.
- Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder, then alternate adding it with milk into the wet mixture until smooth. Stir in vanilla and almond extract.
- Melt the semi-sweet chocolate and let it cool slightly before folding it into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Before serving, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with ganache.
