Description

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a 9-inch round cake pan with parchment paper and grease it with butter.
  2. Cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together flour and baking powder, then alternate adding it with milk into the wet mixture until smooth. Stir in vanilla and almond extract.
  5. Melt the semi-sweet chocolate and let it cool slightly before folding it into the batter.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Before serving, dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with ganache.
