- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
- 8 ounces fresh mushrooms, chopped
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 cup crispy fried onions
- 1/2 cup grated cheese (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Wash and trim the green beans. If using frozen, ensure they are thawed and drained.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter and sauté the chopped mushrooms until golden, about 5-7 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Stir in the sautéed mushrooms and green beans.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish, adding cheese on top if desired.
- Sprinkle crispy fried onions over the casserole.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
- Let sit for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, use low-fat soup and milk. Feel free to substitute broccoli or asparagus for green beans.
