Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1/2 cup Buttermilk
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 1/4 cup Cocoa Powder
  • 1/2 cup Red Food Coloring
  • a pinch of Salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your baking dish.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat.
  3. Remove from heat and mix in sugar, then add eggs one at a time.
  4. Stir in vanilla extract and buttermilk.
  5. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients.
  7. Add red food coloring until well blended.
  8. Pour the batter into the prepared dish and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
  10. Cool completely before frosting with cream cheese frosting.
