Description

Delightful Red Velvet Brownies that blend cocoa and buttermilk for a rich, fudge-like treat topped with cream cheese frosting.

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and baking powder.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat the melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Add the buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract; mix until well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Notes

For a vegan version, substitute buttermilk with milk and vinegar mixture and use flax eggs instead. Use quality cocoa and food coloring for the best results.
