- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tbsp red food coloring
- Granulated sugar and cinnamon for coating
Instructions
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, and sugar. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
- Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until the mixture forms a dough. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
- Whisk in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
- Heat oil in a frying pan to 375°F (190°C).
- Pipe the dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Roll churros in a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon while warm.
- Serve immediately, drizzled with white chocolate sauce or with a cream cheese dip.
Notes
Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to achieve the perfect crispy texture. Avoid overcrowding the pan while frying.
