Description

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp red food coloring
  • Granulated sugar and cinnamon for coating

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine water, butter, and sugar. Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.
  2. Stir in flour, cocoa powder, and salt until the mixture forms a dough. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
  3. Whisk in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan to 375°F (190°C).
  5. Pipe the dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  6. Roll churros in a mixture of granulated sugar and cinnamon while warm.
  7. Serve immediately, drizzled with white chocolate sauce or with a cream cheese dip.
