- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- Creamy peppermint frosting
- Crushed candy canes (for decoration)
- Chocolate sprinkles (for decoration)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and prepare a muffin tin with paper liners.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well, then stir in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk until just combined.
- Scoop the batter into lined muffin tins, filling them two-thirds full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
- Frost with peppermint frosting and add decorations as desired.
- Serve on a beautiful platter.
Notes
Cupcakes can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or in the refrigerator for about a week. They can also be frozen for up to three months.
