Description

A comforting and simple Mongolian beef recipe that brings the family together with its delightful flavors and ease of preparation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 4 green onions, sliced (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Slice the beef into thin strips against the grain.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  3. Place the beef in the slow cooker and pour the sauce over it. Stir to coat evenly.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours until the beef is tender.
  5. In the last half hour, mix cornstarch with a splash of water and stir it into the slow cooker to thicken the sauce.
  6. Serve the beef on a plate and top with sliced green onions.

Notes

Consider searing the beef for added flavor and ensure not to overcrowd the slow cooker.
