Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare your cake pans by greasing and dusting with flour.
- Cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt, then gradually add to the wet mixture, alternating with milk.
- Optionally, fold in pumpkin puree or spices for flavor.
- Pour batter into prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely. Frost as desired.
