Description

Delicious and crispy tuna patties, packed with flavor and perfect for family dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cans of canned tuna, drained
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup diced onion (yellow or green)
  • 1/4 cup fresh or dried herbs (parsley or dill)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or olive oil)

Instructions

  1. Prep Your Ingredients: Gather all the ingredients on your countertop.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix together your drained tuna, breadcrumbs, diced onion, and herbs. Add in the egg and mayonnaise, then season with salt, pepper, and garlic powder to taste.
  3. Mix Just Enough: Use a fork or your hands to combine everything until just mixed, being careful not to overwork the mixture to keep the patties light and fluffy.
  4. Shape the Patties: Shape the mixture into patties about ½ inch thick, yielding 8-10 patties.
  5. Heat the Skillet: In a skillet, heat enough oil over medium heat until hot.
  6. Cook Until Golden: Carefully add the patties to the pan, cooking for 4-5 minutes on each side until browned and crispy.
  7. Drain and Serve: Remove the patties and let them drain on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
  8. Enjoy: Serve warm with a squeeze of lemon or in a sandwich with lettuce and tomato.

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use almond flour or gluten-free crackers. You can substitute flaxseed meal mixed with water for the egg for a vegan option.
