Description
Deliciously buttery pretzel bites that are soft on the inside with a crunchy exterior, perfect for any gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 tablespoon coarse salt
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water
- 1/2 cup baking soda (for boiling)
Instructions
- Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy. Add flour, salt, and melted butter. Stir until a dough forms.
- Knead: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic. Cover it with a damp cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about an hour.
- Shape the Bites: Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down and divide it into small pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and cut them into bite-sized pieces.
- Boil: In a large pot, bring water to a boil, adding baking soda once it’s bubbling. Carefully add the pretzel bites for about 30 seconds, then remove with a slotted spoon.
- Bake: Place the bites on a lined baking sheet, brush with melted butter, and sprinkle coarse salt. Bake for about 12-15 minutes at 425°F until golden brown.
- Serve Warm: Allow them to cool slightly before enjoying them with your choice of dips.
Notes
For a healthier alternative, use olive oil instead of butter. These pretzel bites can be made ahead and refrigerated overnight.
